Gravitation (2017)
A project about Spanish migration to France. The culture of remembrance and the fragmentation of memories in families who have emigrated were the main themes of this research project. Flight and forced migration, such as that of 1939, when Barcelona fell into Franco’s hands and millions of people fled across the Pyrenees to France, leaves deep emotional wounds in the memory and culture of a group of people. There is a balance between preserving memories and deliberate forgetting, the connections between which I have tried to explore visually through interviews, image research and historical research.
The research project on Spanish migration to the southwest of France was supported by the „Grand Prix d’Art Contemporain d’Occitanie“ award in the province of Toulouse and the Occitanie region. The jury included Christian Bernard and Nicolas Bourriaud. The majority of the works were created during a one-month production residency at the Lieu-Commun cultural center in Toulouse, France. The series was exhibited at the Lieu-Commun, curated by Manuel Pomar, in the „Grand Prix D’Occitanie“ exhibition and at the Musee Regional d’Art Contemporain (MRAC) in Serignac, France, curated by Sandra Patron, Director of the MRAC
